Learning Objectives

  • You will be able to select screening instruments to assess patients with pain for risk of opioid misuse and institute monitoring strategies based on this risk.

  • You will be able to specify nonpharmacologic interventions for pain treatment when opioids are not indicated and/or as complements to indicated opioid therapy.

  • You will be able to evaluate the efficacy and risk potential of current and emerging opioid analgesic agents for patients with chronic pain.

  • You will be able to design and implement a legal foundation for your pain practice.
